“…The masses were associated with discomfort on sitting. Small nodules due to the infiltration of tendons with amyloid are a recognised feature of B2M amyloid and may be associated with triggering of fingers [7], There have been 2 case reports of popliteal masses due to B2M amyloid [8,9] and our case highlights the importance of palpation of the gluteal region in the assessment of patients with dialysis arthropathy. We have since discovered bilateral gluteal tumours in one more patient who has been on haemodialysis for 20 years, although no histological tis sue has yet been obtained.…”

“…Laurent et al 16 reported an incidence of 30% in patients who were undergoing hemodialysis for 10 years, 50% for 15 years, and 100% for 20 years. The incidence of entrapment neuropathy in hemodialysis patients may be increased, not only by susceptibility to nerve compression as a result of uremia and amyloidosis but also by direct compression by a bursa 3,22 or inflammatory tissue. 15 In our cases, cubital tunnel syndrome had gradually worsened without an acute attack of neuritis.…”

“…AP2M amyloidosis can also manifest in dialysis pa tients with subcutaneous tumorous deposits [63][64][65][66], while diffuse infiltration of the subcutaneous fat or skin are not usually present [ 18,33,67,68].…”
