Diaphanoskopie bei der Zyklophotokoagulation

Abstract: Transscleral cyclophotocoagulation is not usually considered as the first line surgical therapy for glaucoma. However, it still remains an important tool for lowering intraocular pressure in certain patients. It is quick and easy to perform and acts through an alternative physiological approach compared to filtration surgery. As the ciliary body is not directly visible, an empirical distance from the limbus is often used for placement of the laser probe; however, the anatomical structures can be highly variabl… Show more

“…The transmission properties of the eyewall also play a major role, ensuring that the risk to the retina is much lower than with endoillumination. Transscleral illumination can be useful in tumor localization [38][39][40], tumor therapy [41,42], diaphanoscopically controlled cyclophotocoagulation [43], removal of vitreous [44,45], peeling of ILM (internal limiting membrane) [46], and localization of retinal breaks [47][48][49].…”

“…Due to many advantages and also despite the red-shift in the eye, diaphanoscopic illumination has many applications in the eye, e.g. tumor localization and therapy [ 3 8 ], localization of retinal breaks [ 9 , 10 ], removal of vitreous [ 11 , 12 ], peeling the internal limiting membrane [ 13 ] and diaphanoscopically guided cyclophotocoagulation [ 14 ]. The improvement of diaphanoscopic applications keeps going on, e.g.…”
