Diaqua[5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)porphyrinato-κ4N]iron(III) trifluoromethanesulfonate–4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde–water (1/1/2)

Abstract: In the title compound, [Fe(C44H24Cl4N4)(H2O)2](SO3CF3)·C8H8O3·2H2O, the FeIII cation is chelated by the four N atoms of the deprotonated tetrakis(4-chlorotetraphenyl)porphyrin (TClPP) and further coordinated by two water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal, the cations, anions, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and water molecules of crystallization are linked by classical O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C—H⋯O and C—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supramolecular ar… Show more

“…The liver diseases are a global health problem therefore, the maintenance of healthy liver is imperative for human health ( Haidry and Malik, 2014 ). A variety of chemicals, such as tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP), D-galactosamine/lipopolysaccharide, carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ), acetaminophen, alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide can cause potential damage to the liver cells leading to progressive dysfunction ( Simeonova et al, 2014 ). Oxidative stress is a redox imbalance between pro-oxidant, i.e., the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidant defense counteracting the reactive intermediates and initiating the cellular damage ( Videla, 2009 ).…”

“…On the other hand, Fe(III)-monoaqua porphyrins are intermediate-spin (S = 3/2) with an Fe-Np distances around 1.978 Å while Fe(III)-diaqua metalloporphyrins are high-spin (S = 5/2) with an Fe-Np distance around 2.045 Å (Cheng et al, 1994) . Thus, for [Fe III (TPP)(H 2 O)] + (Xu et al, 2011) (Gismelseed et al, 1990 (Scheidt et al, 1979;Ben Haj Hassen, 2014), the values of this distance are 2.095 (2) Å and 2.051 (2) Å / 2.157 (2) Å, respectively . These bond lengths are comparable to those of several iron(III)-aqua porphyrin complexes [1.961 (3) Å -2.134 (6) Å] (CSD refcodes ECADET; Xu et al, 2011 and SICFAL;Gismelseed et al, 1990) The crystal structure of the title compound resembles to an one-dimensional coordination polymer (Fig.…”

“…For example, the Fe-Np distance is 2.022 (8) Å for [Fe III (TpivPP)(SO 3 CF 3 )(H 2 O)] (TpivPP is the α,α,α,α-tetrakis(o-pivalamidophenyl)porphinato ligand) leading to a mixed intermediate-spin derivative [S = (5/2,3/2)] (Gismelseed et al, 1990). The Fe-Np bond length value of our derivative (Scheidt et al, 1979;Ben Haj Hassen, 2014), the values of this distance are 2.095 (2) Å and 2.051 (2) Å / 2.157 (2) Å, respectively .
