Diaquabis(2,2’-dipyridylamine)M(II) Terephthalate Dihydrates, M(II) = Ni, Co: Synthesis, Crystal Structures, Thermal and Magnetic Properties

Abstract: Two new isostructural M(II) (M = Ni, Co) complexes with 2,2'-dipyridylamine (dipya) and dianion of terephthalic acid (H 2 tpht), [M(dipya) network. The stabilization of 3D structure is accomplished by non-covalent face to face π-π interactions among pyridyl ring of dipya and benzene ring of tpht from adjacent chains. Towards the applied magnetic field, the both complexes exhibited almost perfect paramagnetic behavior.

“…The Ni-O and Ni-N bond lengths of the complex are in good agreement with Ni(II) complexes previously reported. [29][30][31] The chelating N−Ni−O angle is 79.37(4)°, whereas the non-chelating N−Ni−O angles is 100.63(4)°. The O3-Ni1-O1 and O3-Ni1-N1 angles are 88.20(4)° and 89.47(5)°, respectively.…”
