C. rhomboideo-elliptica was also dominant in the Heqing palaeolake during the Pleistocene since MIS 6 (Li et al, 2015b). “…Benthic taxa characteristic of moist or temporarily dry sediments (Denys, 1991;Van Dam et al, 1994) accounted for 55% of the diatom abundance from which 19.5% consisted of epiphytic taxa, thus indicating the presence of aquatic plants associated to a shallow system with a well-developed littoral zone.
