This article presents the deployment of the Semester i (i-Sem) "Data Analytics and Cloud Computing vs Breast Cancer: learning that helps" (DA&CCvsBC). i-Sem is one of the elements of the Tec21 educational model of The Monterrey Tech. DA&CCvsBC is a learning environment where engineering students developed competences, by resolving an inspiring challenge designed from a problem posed by a training partner (TP). The challenge consisted in designing and implementing computer applications to support the follow-up of patients with breast cancer before and during their treatment. The project started with the selection of a list of competences to be developed in the students. From that list and based on a real problem situation posed by two training partners (TPs), a challenge was designed. The challenge was presented to students interested in participating and 11 students were selected. So, in 18 weeks, the students, accompanied by professors, built solution proposals for the challenge. During the construction process, the students developed the established competences. The project had a vision: "learning that helps". The intended outcomes were: A report that evidenced the development of students' competences, and two computer applications for monitoring the treatment of patients with breast cancer.

Innovative new digital technologies arise within the field of education every day. There seems to be a large potential impact in using gamification for improving acceptance and use of new technologies in education. This study aims to gain better and new insights on how to improve the acceptance of new educational technology by applying gamification elements. To this aim, we performed a systematic literature review of 1271 publications, yielding 56 relevant studies. We positioned these studies based on which gamification element(s) and which educational technology acceptance constructs were discussed. Our results show that few studies focus on individual gamification elements and that most studies focus on the same elements and constructs, i.e. Learning Expectancy, Social Influence and Hedonic Motivation are the most discussed constructs related to increasing the acceptance of educational technology when applying gamification, while Points, Badges, Leaderboards and Social Games & Teamwork are the most discussed gamification elements. The impact of gamifying educational technology is mixed -both negative and positive results are being reported -and thus we conclude that the knowledge of how to successfully gamify educational technology is still limited.

-Learning is the long process of transforming information as well as experience into knowledge, skills, attitude and behaviors. To make up the wide gap between the demand of increasing higher education and comparatively limited resources, more and more educational institutes are looking into instructional technology. Use of online resources not only reduces the cost of education but also meet the needs of society. Intelligent e-learning has become one of the important channels to reach out to students exceeding geographic boundaries. Besides this, the characteristics of e-learning have complicated the process of education, and have brought challenges to both instructors and students. This paper will focus on the discussion of different discipline of intelligent e-learning like scaffolding based e-learning, personalized e-learning, confidence based e-learning, intelligent tutoring system, etc. to illuminate the educational paradigm shift in intelligent e-learning system.
