“…The remaining cases can usually be treated successfully with thrombolysis and/or embolectomy. 7,10,19,23 Our case underscores dramatically the importance of proper patient selection for planned thrombin injection of postprocedural FAP. Risk factors for the development of distal limb ischemia caused by in situ thrombosis from thrombin leakage are listed in Table 1.…”

“…1,18 More recently, the applied doses of thrombin are much smaller (average 200 IU) with a comparable efficacy and less complications as in previously used higher doses. 18,19 Using bovine thrombin there is a hypothetical risk of IgE-mediated allergic reaction, but only 1 case of an anaphylactic reaction is described in the literature. 20 Topical bovine thrombin has been used extensively for hemostasis in radiology, neurosurgery, and vascular surgery for more than 20 years.…”

“…The technique is performed by placement and compression of the US probe to eliminate the flow on the pseudoaneurysm's neck with an average compression time of nearly thirty minutes (7). US-guided percutaneous thrombin injection is one of the techniques to manage the pseudoaneurysm successfully (8)(9)(10). For the large hematomas, which cause impending skin necrosis, infected, or in case of a concomitant arteriovenous fistula, surgery is a treatment option (11).…”
