Die Kristallstruktur des Phosphaniminato-Komplexes [TiCl3(NPPh3)•TiCl4]2 / Crystal Structure of the Phosphorane Iminato Complex [TiCl3(NPPh3)•TiCl4]2

Abstract: Phosphorane Im inato C om plex, Crystal StructureThe title com pound w as prepared from M e3SiN P P h3 and an excess o f titanium tetrach lo ride. It form s yellow -orange crystals, which w ere characterized by IR sp ectroscop y and by crystal structure determ ination. Space group P 2,/n, Z = 2; lattice dim ension s at 20°C: a = 1189.

“…The neutral tetranuclear complex {Cl 3 Ti(l-Cl) 3 Ti(NPPh 3 )} 2 (l-Cl) 2 (VIII, Chart 3) contains titanium with a similar octahedral chloride ligand coordination environment to 3b; the terminal Ti-Cl bond lengths are similar (2.189-2.213) but the bridging Ti-Cl bond lengths cover a greater range (2.399-2.614). 17 The structure of the [Ti 2 Cl 9 ] − anion (IX), in which both titanium centres have an octahedral face-sharing geometry, has been reported and both the terminal (2.197-2.225 A ˚) and bridging Ti-Cl (2.480-2.556 A ˚) bond lengths are very similar to those observed for 3b. 18 The stability of the binuclear complexes 3 towards further reaction is remarkable; 3a-c do not react with a second equivalent of ligand even after heating under reflux for two days in toluene solution.…”

“…(2.399-2.614). 6 The crystal structure of the [Ti 2 Cl 9 ] Ϫ anion, in which both titanium centres have an octahedral face-sharing geometry, has been reported and both the terminal (2.197-2.225 Å) and bridging Ti-Cl (2.480-2.556Å) bond lengths are very similar to those observed for 3b. 7 Complexes 2a, 2b and 3b catalyse the polymerisation of ethene when activated with methylaluminoxane (Table 1).…”
