Die Pathogenese der zentralserösen Chorioretinopathie

Abstract: Of the patients 47 (96%) showed hypofluorescent areas in the early pictures of the ICG angiography which changed to hyperfluorescence in the late phase pictures in 39 patients (80%). Of the asymptomatic paired eyes, 31 (63%) showed abnormalities in the ICG pictures. The amplitudes in mERG were reduced in the study eyes as well as in the paired eyes and only recovered slowly. Angiographic healing was seen in 44 (90%) patients during the follow-up time, while the reduction of mERG amplitudes recovered more slowl… Show more

“…Classically, barrier function defect in the retinal pigment epithelium is considered to be the main pathogenesis mechanism in CSC eyes. However, advances in ICGA indicate that abnormal choroidal vasculature might be the primary pathogenic cause of CSC [ 1 , 6 ]. If the abnormal choroidal vasculature is the main pathogenic mechanism of CSC eyes, the role of VEGF might be emphasized and provide legitimacy of the anti-VEGF therapy to CSC eyes.…”

“…that is usually associated with a good visual prognosis. In some cases, however, persistent CSC results in permanent damage to the retina or retinal pigment epithelium [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ]. Therefore, if the disease continues beyond the acute phase, active treatment must be considered to prevent irreversible damage to retinal function.…”

“…Various risk factors for CSCR have been identified, including male gender, stress, type A personality, pregnancy, arterial hypertension, elevated catecholamines, genetic disposition, psychopharmacological medication, diabetes mellitus, previous eye surgery, and use of antibiotics, alcohol and antihistamines (Gelber & Schatz 1987; Yannuzzi 1987; Tittl et al. 1999; Dohrmann et al. 2001; Wynn 2001; Bouzas et al.…”
