Dielectric Properties of Collagen on Plasma Modified Polyvinylidene Fluoride

Abstract: Problem statement:The attachment of biopolymers such as collagen on inert polymeric template created great challenge due to hydrophobic nature of polymeric material. The modification of PVDF for improved adhesion and introduction of specific functionalities have been widely recognized in various industrial applications. Typical methods for modifying polymer surface such as chemical etching and UV irradiation are not favorable as it requires high temperature and the use of chemical solvents. However plasma modi… Show more

“…This phenomena occurred due to the source of argon plasma, which were implanted at energies high enough to break the functional group and produced these active sites. Hence, resulted in hydrophilic surfaces [1,[8][9]. The number of active sites increased with prolonged exposure times.…”

“…Parallel packing of β-phase conformation chain structure induced the molecular dipole to align in one direction in order to produce large spontaneous polarization. Furthermore, PVDF-TrFE have the ability to achieve favourable dielectric characteristic by performing additional treatments, such as annealing [14][15][16][17][18], stretching [8,[19][20], fillers incorporations [21][22][23] and other advance methods [20,24]. In the ferroelectric thin film fabrication, annealing process was used due to its simplicity.…”
