Abstract: Curcuma caesia Roxb. of the Zingiberaceae family, is an ethnobotanically important rhizomatous perennial herb and is commonly known as “Black turmeric”. Like in other species of Curcuma, the pharmacologically important polyphenol curcumin is also found in C. caesia.
