Differential effects of GABA in modulating nociceptive vs. non-nociceptive synapses

Abstract: GABA (γ-amino-butyric acid) -mediated signaling is normally associated with synaptic inhibition due to ionotropic GABA receptors that gate an inward Cl(-) current, hyperpolarizing the membrane potential.
