Differential evolution based method for total transfer capability evaluation

Abstract: The application of Differential Evolution (DE) to compute the Total Transfer Capability (TTC) in deregulated market is proposed in this paper. The objective is to maximize a specific point-to-point power transaction without violating system constraints using DE. This algorithm is based on full ac optimal power flow solution to account for the effects of active and reactive power flow, voltage limits, and line flow limits. The real power output of generators in source area and the real power of the loads in the… Show more

“…The system data and marginal cost co-efficients are taken from [9] Appendix (Table A) i) Auction based market procedure: In this test system there are 6 generating companies and 20 load serving entities. In this procedure, single-sided auction scheme has been adopted, where only suppliers are allowed to bid in the auction.…”

“…Based on the constraints considered for calculating ATC, it is classified as Static and Dynamic ATC. In Static ATC calculation, only voltage and thermal limits are considered as constraints. But a power system is continually subjected to changes in its load and operating conditions and it is essential that the system has the ability to maintain stable operation when subjected to disturbances.…”

“…The literature survey from [17] reveals that the convergence of the traditional optimization methods depends upon the nature of the objective function. To overcome this difficulty, many heuristic search algorithms have been proposed by many researchers.…”
