Differential expression of serum/plasma proteins in various infectious diseases: Specific or nonspecific signatures

Abstract: Apart from direct detection of the infecting organisms or biomarker of the pathogen itself, surrogate host markers are also useful for sensitive and early diagnosis of pathogenic infections.
