“…MMP-10 (also known as stromelysin 2 , SL-2 ) belongs to the stromelysins subgroup of MMPs , catalyzing substrates include collagen IV, laminin, fibronectin, and elastin. MMP-10 was reported to be associated with atherosclerosis (Purroy et al , 2018), intracerebral hemorrhage (Howe et al , 2018), pulmonary hypertension (Avouac et al , 2017), and cancers (Miyata et al , 2007; Du et al , 2014; Kadeh et al , 2016; Juchniewicz et al , 2017). Recently, Guvercin et al reported that the increase of serum MMP-10 is related to acute kidney injury in nondiabetic geriatric patients (Guvercin et al , 2018).…”

“…Recently, Kadeh et al also found high immunohistochemical expression of MMP-10 in tumour epithelium and stroma in SCC. Moreover, they also confirmed that the level of MMP-10 expression in tumour epithelium of grades III and II of SCC was significantly greater compared to grade I tumours [170]. Thus, MMP-10 was highly expressed in both tumour epithelium and stromal cells and may play a role in the initial stages of SCC progression [13], but does not correlate with the invasive behaviour of SCC [169].…”

“…MMP-10 was entirely negative in premalignant lesions and only detected in epithelial cancer cells. By statistical analysis, MMP-10 expression does not correlate with the invasive behaviour of tumours as assessed by their histology, but may be induced by the wound healing and inflammatory matrix remodelling events associated with skin tumours [169,170]. MMP-11 seems to be associated with benign fibroblastic tumours and is a fibroblastic factor expressed in stromal cells adjacent to carcinoma cells.…”

“…It has the ability to hydrolyse extracellular matrix proteins, such as collagen type III, IV, and V, elastin, proteoglycans and glycoproteins. MMP-10 is involved in the angiogenesis process 21 and can promote cancer cell invasion and metastasis 21,22 . The present study found that APOM significantly inhibited MMP-10 mRNA expression, but did not affect the expression of MMP-10 protein.…”
