Differentiation of Particulate Matter Sources Based on the Chemical Composition of PM10 in Functional Urban Areas

Abstract: Urban air quality is continuing to deteriorate. If we want to do something about this problem, we need to know the cause of the pollution. The big problem, not only in Europe, is the high concentrations of particulate matter (PM) in the urban environment. The origin of these particles can be different, including combustion, transport, industry, natural resources, etc. Particulate matter includes a large amount of the finest PM fractions, which can remain in the air for a long time, easily enter respiratory tra… Show more

“…Here, we concentrated on road profiles with regularly exceeded saturation. These profiles are usually unsatisfactory in terms of measuring surface evenness or excessive emission load [25,26]. Saturation flow is a very important road traffic performance measure of the maximum rate of flow of traffic.…”

“…Samples were transferred and appropriately diluted on a triple quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS-Agilent 8800 Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS, Japan) before element determination. The tests were performed in the laboratory of the Transport Research Centre in Brno, Czech Republic (Jandacka & Durcanska, 2019).…”

“…It should also be noticed that the high share of carbon monoxide from road transport was 23.14% in 2017 (Table 2). On the other hand, the lower share was attributed to suspended particulate matter PM2.5 (10.18%) and PM10 (7.79%) [40,41].…”
