Abstract:An analytical method which distinguishes between primary, secondary and tertiary amines has been developed. Trifluoroacetic anhydride, with 4-pyrrolidinopyridine as a catalyst, is used to form di-and mono-trifluoroacylated derivatives of primary and secondary aromatic amines, respectively.
