Diffusion factors of street canyon pollutants in the cold winter of Xi’an city based on back propagation neural network analysis

Abstract: The factors affecting pollutant diffusion in street canyons during the cold winter of Xi'an City, China, were analysed by measuring the near-surface atmospheric parameters at the height of 1.5 m from ground surface and the aspect ratios (ARs) of 40 street canyons. SPSS software was adopted to obtain eight multiple regression models, including the city street locations, street orientations and street widths. A back propagation neural network was employed to obtain the weight of the factors and their sensitiviti… Show more

“…In addition, the difference between the analysis results and retail spatial distribution can also be verified. Most of the research objects are the spatial distribution of regional enterprises (Gu & Chen, 2017), road network accessibility (Wang et al, 2019), and there are few studies on service businesses.…”

“…[2][3][4][5] Many studies have illustrated that many modern diseases are caused by air pollution. [6][7][8] The airflow structure and pollutant distribution can be affected by many factors, including meteorological conditions, building structure, traffic flow, the effects of canopy properties, location and shape of pollution sources and so on. [9][10][11][12][13] The building structure is the main factor that could affect the airflow structure and pollutant distribution.…”

“…Moreover, the convective diffusion of pollutants from automobiles is related to the health of residents. [1][2][3][4] At present, research on airflow and pollutant dispersion in urban canopy and street canyons involves many factors, including balconies, 5,6 heat, 7,8 wind environment, 9,10 low boundary walls, 11 car parking systems 12 and trees. 13,14 Because numerical simulation technology consumes fewer resources and obtains abundant data information, 15 various researchers are using numerical simulations of airflow and pollutant dispersion in street canyons under arboreal influence to study airflow and pollutant dispersion in street canyons.…”
