This paper draws a picture of how topics related to subjectivity have appeared in different psychological theories, such as psychoanalysis, Gestalt and post‐structuralist approaches, discussing in depth a specific proposition from a cultural‐historical standpoint. I argue that, in most of these theories, subjectivity has been used to refer to specific processes and phenomena without advancing a more general theory about it. The way in which subjectivity was treated within the Cartesian/Enlightenment tradition, taken together with the individualistic tradition of psychology, led critical psychological theories to reject the concept. In this way, such critical theories have omitted the heuristic value of subjectivity to study processes that can neither be exhausted by language, nor by discourse. A new proposal of subjectivity is highlighted, based on the cultural‐historical tradition in psychology. From this perspective, subjectivity is defined by units of emotions and symbolical processes generated throughout human experience. On the basis of such definition, I discuss how institutionalized orders can be subverted by subjective productions that represent new social pathways. Far from being a remnant of Modernity, in this way subjectivity is defined as a human production, capable of transcending the apparent objective limits of human existence.

O presente artigo visa apresentar e discutir possibilidades de sistemas de ações profissionais a partir da teoria da subjetividade em uma perspectiva cultural-histórica, de modo a avançar sobre temas e práticas historicamente ausentes na psicologia soviética. Para tanto, são discutidas ações profissionais em diferentes contextos, a saber, na psicoterapia, nas práticas escolares, na atuação em instituições de saúde e na comunidade. Essa proposta teórica implica uma concepção dialógica e não instrumental dos sistemas de ações profissionais e atribui uma forte importância à capacidade dos indivíduos e grupos de se posicionarem de forma ativa em seus diversos caminhos de vida, emergindo como sujeitos de suas próprias experiências. Nesse sentido, as práticas profissionais devem ser orientadas a favorecer o desenvolvimento humano, para além da resolução pontual de problemas específicos.

Recovering the person's place as a producer of subjectivity is essential to ensuring that development processes are not theorized in a depersonalized, fragmented and isolated manner. Based on the theoretical, epistemological and methodological legacy raised by the researcher Fernando González Rey on subjectivity, the objective of this article is to promote other forms of intelligibility development, based on the concept of subjective development, which allow us to highlight the generative character of the person. Subjective development is marked by the unprecedented nature of the subjective senses, as a force that stresses the system and that can mobilize new subjective configurations or reconfigurations. The complexities and challenges of investigation, guided by Qualitative Epistemology, are also discussed in this article, highlighting the unprecedented and unpredictable role of development, aspects that, when welcomed and legitimized, stress the processes that have been historically perceived to be pathological by society, even by the field of psychology itself. RESUMENPara que los procesos de desarrollo no sean teorizados de forma despersonalizada, fragmentada y aislada, se hace imprescindible recuperar el lugar de la persona como productora de subjetividad. Basado en el legado teórico, epistemológico y metodológico planteado por el investigador Fernando González Rey sobre la subjetividad, el objetivo de este artículo es promover otras formas de inteligibilidad del desarrollo, basadas en el concepto de desarrollo subjetivo, y que nos permitan resaltar el carácter generativo de la persona. El desarrollo subjetivo está marcado por el carácter inédito de los sentidos subjetivos, como fuerza que pone en tensión el sistema y que puede movilizar nuevas configuraciones subjetivas o reconfiguraciones.
