Digest: Fitness costs of Spiroplasma infection in pea aphids*

Abstract: Endosymbionts sometimes help their hosts resist parasites, but does infection of pea aphids (Acyrthosiphon pisum) with different strains of the endosymbiont Spiroplasma confer fitness benefits that offset the costs?
