“…In this study, we adhered to previous studies (e.g. Ramadani et al, 2021;Farani et al, 2017;Al-Mamary and Alraja, 2022;Younis et al, 2020) and defined DEI as a self-acknowledged conviction of a person to start a digital business and plan for its execution at some point in the future using a variety of digital technologies, creating an innovative application of them or developing novel ones. What is known is that DEI and entrepreneurial intention share similar characteristics since digital entrepreneurship is a subcategory of entrepreneurship (Younis et al, 2020).…”

“…Regarding DEI, several empirical studies investigated its determinants from the perspective of TPB in developed countries (Taiwan: Chang et al ., 2020; Tseng et al ., 2022; China: Lai and To, 2020). Other studies were conducted in developing countries, such as Pakistan (Batool et al ., 2015); Indonesia (Darmanto et al ., 2022); Iran (Farani et al ., 2017); Kosovo (Ramadani et al ., 2021); Romania, Malaysia and Bangladesh (Ashraf et al ., 2021) and particularly in Saudi Arabia (Alferaih, 2022; Al-Mamary and Alraja, 2022; Alzamel et al ., 2020). Our understanding of DEI is guided by the TPB of Ajzen (1991), as one of the most influential theories in the field to provide a useful framework for understanding the complexities of human social behaviour (Ajzen, 1991; Kautonen et al ., 2015) and in particular those of digital entrepreneurial behaviour.…”

“…Although using digital technology has become an essential element in the entrepreneurship process (Rippa and Secundo, 2019), there are a few studies that clearly investigate the factors that influence digital entrepreneurship intention. In this regard, some of these studies include the study of Ramadani et al (2021), who revealed the factors that influence digital entrepreneurial intention applied to Kosovo companies. Another study is by Younis (2018), who studied in depth the factors that affect digital entrepreneurs as applied to university students in Qatar.…”
