“…Librarians rated their metadata development skills to enable AI as moderate, which is expected, as they are knowledge curators responsible for organizing information resources and making them available for future retrieval; however, they do not seem to have the experience of creating usable metadata. Metadata creation and curation are considered by researchers such as Adeleke (2016) and Baro et al (2019) as one important skill that librarians should master, especially with recent advancements, where AI applications are highly recognized for enhancing users’ experiences (Cox et al , 2019; Urberg, 2021).…”

Several researchers (Adeleke, 2016; Martzoukou and Elliott, 2016; Tiemo, 2019; Baro et al , 2019; Hamad et al , 2021) have pointed out the need for a new set of skills related to the advancement in digital technologies for libraries to survive in this ever-growing competition. They all referred to it as a set of technological skills that enable librarians to deal with new technologies.…”

“…Similarly, Urhiewhu and Emojorho (2015) reported that African universities (Nigeria inclusive) have started using technology in their daily activities. Despite previous findings of challenges resulting in low digital acceptance and use in Nigeria, many of the libraries in Nigeria have now transcended the basic and initial stages of digital maturity, while some others are at the e-Enabled level (Adeleke, Ojokuku & Ojo, 2022). This suggests that libraries in Nigeria have come of maturity digitally, to begin to pave the way or facilitate digital inclusion by creating awareness of digital technologies, making people see the benefits of using these technologies, and equipping them with the required skills increasing perceived usability.…”
