Digital Realm: Parametric-enabled Paradigm in Architectural Design Process

Abstract: With the rise of digital design tools in architecture, this study aims to participate in the current debate taking into account a holistic approach of the parametric paradigm and some of the major potentialities that emerge from its use in the discipline. This paper therefore aims to review this new paradigm and propose a conceptual framework based on its models, levels and systems that support the architectural design process. This framework may help architects realize the potential of parametric tools by usi… Show more

“…In terms of AE, conforming to this checklist at appropriate stages of a design project can hopefully ensure students' capability in producing new and original design solutions, as presented in Figure 3 (Anderson and Krathwohl, 2001;Ibrahim and Utaberta, 2012;Liu et al, 2017). (2) The project could be a learning assignment or learning products or artifacts (3) This learning model is used to complete a given learning project by live-streaming in the ecosystem Source(s): Adopted from Francis and Shannon (2013), Graham (2006), Ibrahim and Utaberta (2012), Megahed (2015) and Reffat (2007) Table 2.…”

“…Although during the last few years, ICTbased models' progress has been incredible, continued rapid developments in technology offer many potential applications, and distance education is readily available. The online educational environment has expanded exponentially as new technologies have added more and more possibilities for further communication and integration (Abo El-Einen et al, 2015;Graham, 2006;Megahed, 2015). As shown in Figure 1, BL's evolution has followed two lines, that is, traditional face-to-face and online have remained largely separate due to employment of different media and methods.…”
