Digital Transformation Strategies Enabled by Internet of Things and Big Data Analytics: The Use-Case of Telecommunication Companies in Greece

Abstract: Both Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data Analytics (BDA) are innovations that already caused a significant disruption having a major impact on organizations. To reduce the attrition of new technology implementation, it is critical to examine the advantages of BDA and the determinants that have a detrimental or positive impact on users’ attitudes toward information systems. This article aims to evaluate the intention to use and the perceived benefits of BDA systems and IoT in the telecommunication industry. T… Show more

“…After empirical analysis, the results of this study validate that knowledge of digital transformation, technological resources, and competitive pressure in the textile industry positively and significantly affect the perceived benefits of digital transformation. These three direct effects were found to be the same or similar to the results of previous studies by Kuan and Chau (2001) , Oliveira and Martins (2010) , and Moumtzidis et al (2022) , respectively. The results are the same across the different study contexts because the knowledge of digital transformation in the telecom and textile industries has improved and employees are more likely to understand the benefits of digital transformation.…”

“…In summary, this study defines perceived benefits as the perceived extent to which textile companies can reduce corporate threats, achieve corporate goals, and increase product productivity through digital transformation. Moumtzidis et al (2022) conducted a study on the digital transformation of telecommunication companies through the Internet of things and big data analysis. The results indicate that the data quality knowledge associated with digital transformation positively and significantly affects the perceived benefits of digital transformation systems.…”

“…Numerous studies confirm the robustness of the model, emphasizing its broad applicability to a diverse set of technologies and users [30]. It has been used in recent years to study the adoption of new technologies, such as wearables [55], Google Glass [56], augmented reality [57], Smart Home systems [58], IoT-based systems [24], and digital transformation strategies [59].…”

“…In this era, data has made a new zone of challenges and opportunities for information technology (IT) professionals. The usage of progressive digital technologies for example BD will support productivity, develop efficiency, and create new forecasts for societies in all areas, which are vital for commercial recovery [1]. Information systems in companies have developed over the years and progressed from being a system in which transactions are recorded to being a system that supports decisions made by businesses at many levels [1][2] [3][4] [5] [6].…”
