Digital Twin-Driven Performance Optimization for Hazardous Waste Landfill Systems

Abstract: Hazardous waste landfill is the final way to dispose of hazardous waste and its environmental risk is different from that of domestic waste landfill. Its dangerous characteristics will not decrease with time, but will exist for a long. The environmental risks of hazardous waste landfills are concentrated in the probability risk of leakage of the impermeable layer. Therefore, it is of great significance to calculate the environmental risk of the leakage source intensity of typical hazardous waste landfills. In … Show more

“…Digital twins enable the construction of a “core” model that represents commonly shared features in a biological system, which can be extended and customized with additional parameters and personalized using data from an individual subject [ 29 , 48 ]. Modules combining plug-and-play methods, such as the Python-based architecture, ease the collaboration between centers to improve the datasets used and support interactions between several resources [ 36 , 49 ].…”

“…When waste cannot be eliminated or reused, it must be managed. Wu and Li (2022) created a digital model of a hazardous waste landfill system. Their digital twin was fed by real-time data from the automated guided vehicle sensors and other environmental sensors that enable the system to identify the best driving path.…”

“…Additionally, Cherniaev displayed digital technologies and their benefits that have been incorporated into the exploration, production, and transportation of oil and gas products in Russia [20]. Extending to hazardous waste process, Yonghui Wu aimed to solve the multiunit linkage optimization problem under the framework of DT technology [21]. Yan Gao summarized the DT application in transportation infrastructure: railway, highway system, bridge and tunnel, pointing out the drawbacks at the same time [22].…”
