Digital Twins of an Organization for Enterprise Modeling

Abstract: Today's dynamic business environment requires enterprises to be agile in order to remain competitive. Competition also impacts enterprise modeling (EM) aiming at the systematic development of the enterprise's business processes, organizational structures, and information systems. Although EM is a mature discipline, organizations still do not exploit the full potential of EM. We suggest, the concept of a Digital Twin of an Organization (DTO) provides a means of digitalization to introduce more agility. A DTO dr… Show more

“…[ 32 ]). Digital transformation towards CPS touches technical and organizational issues, including design and control models—so-called digital twins [ 33 ]. In order to speed up the effectiveness of CPS development, this paper revisited the structure of digital twins from an agent-based and, thus, behavior-centered perspective.…”

“…Riss et al's [12] method for defining DTOs involves mapping the 5-layer architecture of Digital Twins in Manufacturing (DTMs) [29]. Their approach places a particular emphasis on adapting the User Interface Layer of the DTO to effectively address discrepancies between DTM and DTO.…”

“…Moreover, DPTs are more effective when applied to organizational contexts described by an enterprise architecture modeling language, such as BPMN [12]. Riss et al [19] evaluate the characteristics and benefits of using a DPT in these contexts. By exploiting a continuous data flow, the DPT shows the real-time performance of its actual counterpart and associates the process with the current behavior of the entities.…”
