Dimensional Stabilisation of Wood: Factors Influencing it and the Principles of Treatment

Abstract

The factors that cause dimensional changes in wood and the principles of dimensional stabilisation treatments as well as the practical treatments employed, are discussed. Two treatments which appear promising for the future, water repellent application and the production of wood/plastic composites, are given special attention.
