Dinâmica agrária e estratégias de desenvolvimento da agricultura do município de Estrela Velha – RS

Abstract

The work analyzes the dynamics of agriculture in the municipality of Estrela Velha, RS, aiming to propose strategic lines for the elaboration of policies for its development. The method analysis-diagnosis of Agricultural Systems was adopted as a tool for research. The changes in the conditions and forms of production along with the path of evolution of Agriculture of Estrela Velha configured three micro-regions, the development of agriculture "Specialized Agriculture", "Diversified Agriculture" and " Small household production Agriculture ". The analysis showed that the vast majority of farmers of the municipality is the familiar type, practicing their productive activities in 13 basic types of agricultural production units (9 families and 4 employers). Some farmers who have been experiencing some "new" systems were found which have not been classified formally yet, classified as "emerging cases" and that practice different activities alongside the traditional. From the analysis of existing production systems in the municipality, it was verified the possibility of a more inclusive local development, through the promotion of the dairy activity with the farmers with greater difficulties to ensure their social reproduction.
