Diode-end-pumped Nd3+-doped oxyorthosilicate GYSO lasers operating on4F3/2  →  4I13/2transition

Abstract: We report on diode-pumped continuous-wave Nd:GdYSiO 5 lasers, operating on the 4 F 3/2 → 4 I 13/2 transition around the 1.3 µm spectral domain, for the first time to our knowledge. In free-running laser operation, a maximum output power of up to 0.81 W can be obtained at 1357.45 nm with a corresponding slope efficiency of about 10.9%. Wavelength tuning is also realized by using an etalon with a tuning range of about 4 nm. The low-gain emission line at 1386.23 nm is explored with a maximum output power of 0.21 … Show more

“…As a result of this extensive activity cw and modelocked laser operation have been demonstrated. YSO, LSO, SSO, as well as Lu/Gd (LGSO) and Y/Gd (YGSO) have been studied extensively as cw Nd, [28][29][30] Tm, [23] and Yb [31][32][33][34] SSLs. Furthemore, mode-locked laser pulses as short as 54 fs (average output power 25 mW, λ= 1052 nm, repetition rate 113 MHz) have been demonstrated by Kerr-Lens mode-locking with Yb:LSO Cz single-crystals [35] and 122 fs pulses (410 mW, λ=1041 nm, 75 MHz) using a semiconductor saturable absorption mirror (SESAM) as pulsing element.…”
