PurposeCrowdfunding (CF) has become an increasingly popular means of financing for entrepreneurs and has attracted significant attention from both researchers and practitioners in recent years. The purpose of this study is to investigate the core content and knowledge diffusion paths in the CF field. Specifically, we aim to identify the main topics and themes that have emerged in this field and to trace the evolution of CF knowledge over time.Design/methodology/approachThis study employs co-word clustering and main path analysis (MPA) to examine the historical development of CF research based on 1,528 journal articles retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database.FindingsThe results of the analysis reveal that CF research focuses on seven themes: sustainability, entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurship, fintech, social entrepreneurship, social capital, and microcredits. The analysis of the four main paths reveals that equity CF has been the dominant topic in the past years. Recently, CF research has tended to focus on topics such as fintech, the COVID-19 pandemic, competition, Brexit, and policy response.Originality/valueTo the authors' best knowledge, this is the first attempt to explore knowledge diffusion dynamics in the CF field. Overall, the study offers a structure for analyzing the paths through which knowledge is diffused, enabling scholars to effectively manage a large volume of research papers and gain a deeper understanding of the historical, current, and future trends in the development of CF.

Manufacturing companiesare introducing innovative ways to facilitate the sustainable transition of their customers' operations. The emerging literature on digital servitization proposes numerous factors, such as the use of advanced AI analytics, orientation toward outcomes, and aligning ecosystem partnerships, which can potentially influence the sustainable performance of industrial customers. However, there is currently a lack of understanding regarding how these factors interact to result in sustainable outcomes. Hence, this study seeks to shed light on these complex relationships by identifying viable smart solution strategy configurations for achieving customer sustainable performance. Drawing on a dataset of 180 Swedish manufacturing firms, this study uses a configurational comparative methodnamely, fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) -to identify the impact of different configurations of "AI-driven optimization", "outcome orientation", "value co-creation", and "ecosystem orchestration" conditions on the realization of customer sustainable performance. This study has identified five smart solution strategies that empower manufacturers to realize sustainable performance for their customers. Among the five configurational strategies identified, the first configurational strategy appears to be the most prominent, as it is based on an outcome-based approach in which the firm uses its technological expertise and its ecosystem partnerships to take over customer operations. Thus, this study contributes to the ongoing discussion in digital servitization on its enabling role for industrial sustainability practices.

Crowdfunding plays a key role in financial technology to provide individuals and enterprises with funding opportunities to establish start-ups and/or new business ventures. It is mainly used to link projects’ creators and backers, collect money and plan fundraising projects via social networks. This paper proposes a machine learning-enabled approach to analyse Kickstarter numerical and textual data and predict the successful funding and delivery of crowdfunding projects. It offers crowdfunding stakeholders benefits including creator credibility assessment, project risk reduction, and backer confidence enhancement. This research proposes a data preprocessing approach to prepare the dataset and extract the relevant features for the predictions. Besides, it trains and compares five numerical machine learning classification models and three text-mining methods to find the best-fitted numerical and textual analysis approaches. According to the results, the proposed SVM model outperforms the numerical benchmarks in terms of Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F1 score, and model Training latency. Moreover, BERT gives the best results if the dataset is complex, while Word2vec works better with simple features in textual analysis.
