Direct-Coupled Cavity Filter in Ridge Gap Waveguide

Abstract: This paper describes a novel design for a directcoupled cavity filter realization using ridge gap waveguide technology. A ridge gap waveguide transmission line with two coaxial feed connectors is designed and operated within the frequency band of 10-13 GHz. A cavity is coupled to the transmission line in order to achieve bandstop filter characteristic. Thereafter, the structure of the filter is modified in a way to generate a bandpass feature. The final manufactured prototype is a forth order bandpass filter, … Show more

“…By applying the proposed PSO algorithm, in an iteration, the velocity and position of every particle is updated according to (1) and (2), the coordinates of the resonant cavity is calculated based on (6)- (15), and the fitness function is calculated based on (3). The optimized result is illustrated in Table 3.…”

“…_ g best is the position achieved so far by all the particles. 1 C and 2 C are cognition and social components, respectively, and they are acceleration constants for changing the velocities of particles towards p_best and g_best. The above described algorithm is illustrated in Fig.2.…”

“…The coupling has been classically horizontal [835]- [842], but also vertical topologies have been recently proposed [845]. Alternatively, but with less work published, notch filters by using single and dual mode cavities [846], or SSGW filters are also found [847]- [849].…”

“…Finally, some alternative topologies are reviewed. In [846], single and dual mode cavities are created by defecting the pin structure of a RGW. The single mode cavity is created by placing a dielectric pin instead of a metallic one at a certain position of the first row, whereas the dual mode cavity is created by removing two adjacent pins inside of the periodic structure.…”
