Upon analysis, 44.2 L 199 HgCl 2 (453 g L −1 as Hg) was spiked into 2 mL filtrate, mixed thoroughly, diluted to 20 mL and then stabilized for 1 h. 199 Hg 2+ , 201 Hg 2+ and 202 Hg 2+ in the solutions were detected by a flow injection mercury analysis system (FIAS, from PerkinElmer) coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS, Elan DRC-e from PerkinElmer) following the method of isotope dilution technique [30].
