Direct microscopic evidence of shear induced graphitization of ultrananocrystalline diamond films

Abstract: The origin of ultralow friction and high wear resistance in ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) films is still under active debate because of the perplexed tribochemistry at the sliding interface.
