“…This finding was consistent with a study conducted in Gondar town, northwest Ethiopia, 61.7% [ 12 ]. However, this study finding was lower as compared with other studies; 74.6% in Nepal [ 16 ], 87% in rural Peru [ 17 ], 74% Iran [ 18 ], and 70.9% China [ 6 ]. This difference might be due to the variation of the technological advancement of the country, implementation of the health care strategy and the better socio-economic development of the communities.…”

“…This study showed that 85.3% of the patients reported high readiness to return home on a single-item yes/no format question, which was lower than the readiness of surgical patients (93%) (Weiss et al, 2007), older people (93.7%) (Coffey & McCarthy, 2013) and cataract day surgery patients (95.4%) (Qiu et al, 2019). This finding may be related to the disease characteristics.…”

“…To improve patient-reported RHD, many studies have explored multiple factors associated with discharge readiness, such as discharge teaching (Chen et al, 2016;Suwan et al, 2018), social support (Siow et al, 2019), sociodemographic characteristics (Yanikkerem et al, 2018), health literacy (Wallace et al, 2016) and hospital factors (Mabire et al, 2019;Suwan et al, 2018). Notably, a high quality of discharge teaching, in which nurses play an important role , has been shown to have a positive influence on RHD (Kang et al, 2018;Qiu et al, 2019). Discharge teaching is the primary mechanism used by nurses to prepare patients and families for discharge and the transition to home (Weiss et al, 2010).…”
