“…This contradiction in findings may be due to the imbalance between the two populations, as well as the low prevalence of the SNPs. However, Lee et al [2] reported significant associations between GC gene expression levels, depression symptoms, and serum lipid profiles. The distribution of neurons targeted by calcitriol suggests an influence of synthesis levels of acetylcholine acetylase, testosterone, and serotonin [39, 40], which have all been linked to the pathogenesis of depression.…”

“…The outcomes associated with depressive disorders include a negative impact on relationships, families, and work. It has been estimated that depressive disorders are a significant cause of disease burden in both men and women [1, 2]. Several epidemiological studies have reported that a low serum 25-hydroxy-vitamin D level is a risk factor for depression [3, 4].…”

“…To further investigate the metabolic characteristics of the Chinese mitten crab fed PA and OA diets, GC‐TOF/MS‐based metabolomics assay was performed in the present study. Because the metabolites in circulation have been commonly used to reveal the physiological status in response to multiple factors, including disease, stresses and feed change, in clinical analysis (Gobbi et al., ; Grant & Butt, ; Lee et al., ) in the present study, metabolites in the serum from the crabs fed two diets containing different lipid sources were identified and compared. The present study indicates that the metabolic pathways identified from the significantly different metabolites (SDMs) between the OA and PA groups are in line with classic metabolism and represent a typical characteristic of the dietary or medical intervention on organisms (Rocha et al., ; Sun et al., ).…”

“…Proteomics are a set of biochemical tools which can elucidate the role of proteins in the molecular complexity of multifactorial pathologies, including, for example, some types of cancer, psychiatric, neurodegenerative and respiratory diseases .These disorders frequently overlap symptoms with other diseases, challenging physicians to find precise diagnostic or adequate treatment. On this matter, biomarkers ‐ a measurable characteristic from an organism's current state ‐ are a current focus to improve outcomes and personalize treatments of diseases of multifactorial etiology.…”
