DISCURSOS SEXISTAS ACERCA DE LOS INTERESES DE LAS MUJERES EN EL PARLAMENTO CHILENO: UN DESAFÍO PENDIENTE PARA LA REPRESENTACIÓN DESCRIPTIVA y SUSTANTIVA DE GÉNERO

Este artículo ofrece una propuesta de análisis de la interacción entre los feminismos, tanto institucionales como autónomos, y el derecho en Chile, destacando cómo dichos movimientos feministas han influido en las instituciones jurídicas y han sido promotores de la integración de una perspectiva de género o transversalización del género en la práctica judicial. De esta manera, en un primer tiempo se desarrolla cómo la teoría crítica feminista del derecho ha promovido, desde autoras claves de nuestro continente, la importancia de incorporar el enfoque de género en las prácticas jurídicas. Asimismo se identifica el espacio internacional como un escenario que ha permitido la hibridación entre feminismos y reconociendo que existen feministas multisituadas, las cuales desempeñan un papel importante en la promoción de intereses de género en los espacios institucionales. En consonancia con lo anterior, el estudio tiene por objetivo mostrar quiénes movilizan los intereses de género en el Poder Judicial chileno y cómo se compone el “espacio de causa feminista” en estas instituciones, considerando la diversidad de actoras involucradas, desde juezas hasta activistas y académicas. Finalmente, se avanza en plantear desde un punto de vista metodológico propuestas para captar cómo adquiere contorno, forma y fondo la imbricación los diferentes feminismos, principalmente institucionales y autónomos como una manera de comprender de manera más exhaustiva la recepción de ideas feministas en este espacio.

Women Just Wanna Have Quotas: The Gender Divide on Affirmative Action in the Chilean Right

Objective/context: This article examines attitudes towards gender quotas by right-wing leadership in Chile and assesses gender gaps in supporting affirmative action. Methodology: The study uses original data from a survey of leaders of Chile Vamos, a right-wing political alliance in Chile. A series of logistic models with finite-sample corrections are estimated to examine the attitudes of right-wing leaders towards gender quotas and support for affirmative action policies. The models control for various demographic and political factors that may affect attitudes towards affirmative action. Conclusions: The findings for right-wing women in Chile are similar to those for Northern democracies. Right-wing elites show a significant gender gap on issues related to affirmative action and gender equality. Right-wing women are more likely to support affirmative action policies than their male counterparts. Originality: Quotas increase women’s autonomy and recognize that women are historically disadvantaged. The findings of this article support the importance of descriptive representation to the extent that attitudes of right-wing women differ significantly on issues close to their gender.
