Discussion of “Bearing Capacity of Shallow Footings in Simulated Lunar Environments Using Centrifuge Tests” by Hey-Rim Lee, Heon-Joon Park, and Dong-Soo Kim
Abstract:The authors have presented an interesting paper dealing with the effects of footing size and gravity on the bearing capacity using centrifuge modeling. A simple discussion is presented here related to (1) low-gravity simulation and gravity and size effects, and (2) interpretation of ultimate bearing capacity in the original paper.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
