Show more

“…The fact that an OL enables the possibility to collaborate does not mean that individual users will automatically engage in such collective activity. This situation also corroborates the findings of previous research (De Bruyne and Beijer, 2015;Greene and Myerson, 2011;Mateo-Cecilia et al, 2018;Soriano et al, 2018), which underlines the importance of analysing the activity patterns and preferences of employees before a spatial intervention.…”

“…A prominent standpoint in the eudaimonic approach to well-being is Ryff's six-factor model (Ryff, 1989), which establishes the optimal functioning of individuals in relation to self-acceptance, positive relationships with other people, autonomy, environmental mastery, purpose in life and personal growth (Ryff and Keyes, 1995). This model is based on several theories in Psychology such as the psychosocial stages from Erikson (1959), the conception of the fully functioning person from Rogers (1962), or the well-known Maslow's (1968) hierarchy of human needs. In the latter case for instance, Ryff and Maslow share a similar view on self-actualisation (Ryff and Singer, 2006), although the abstraction level of Ryff's factors transcend the explicit needs formulated by Maslow and there is no hierarchisation in Ryff's model.…”

“…A central issue is that different office employees' profiles and activities demand organisations and planners to project office landscapes (OL), i.e. unique combinations of spatial attributes such as construction features, layout, functions, artefacts and environmental conditions that are able to meet complex sets of needs (Greene et al, 2011;Haynes and Appel-Muelenbroek, 2011;Seddigh et al, 2014;Mateo-Cecilia et al, 2018). Thus, research on the influences of OLs on employee well-being is of great relevance and has multifaceted scope.…”
