Disordered Convolution Region of P(VDF-TrFE) Piezoelectric Nanoparticles: The Core of Sono–Piezo Dynamic Therapy

Zhiguang Chen,
Lizhi Yang,
Zhimin Yang
et al.

Abstract: The recent focus on P(VDF-TrFE) material in biomedical engineering stems from its outstanding mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, its application in sono−piezo dynamic therapy (SPDT) has been relatively unexplored. In this study, we developed composite piezoelectric nanoparticles (rPGd NPs@RGD) based on recrystallized P(VDF-TrFE) particles, which offer dual capabilities of MRI imaging and targeted treatment for brain gliomas. SEM observations of P(VDF-TrFE) particles in the disordered convolut… Show more

“…2 I), thus accounting for their stable particle size maintained at approximately 270 nm during storage for 1 to 3 weeks at 4 °C (Figure S4 b). Additionally, our separate study has also corroborated that following crystal structure remodeling, the P(VDF-TrFE) particles exhibit stabilized particle sizes of around 200 nanometers, particularly in the DMEM culture medium, owing to their enhanced hydrophilicity [ 31 ].…”

“…However, until recently, their biodegradability and biocompatibility in antitumor applications were not investigated. [149][150][151][152] Deng et al 153 developed a novel ultrasound-activated PLBSIEbased tumor/wound unified therapeutic platform, by copolymerizing lactic acid, butanediol, sebacic acid, and itaconic acid. Their elastomer demonstrated outstanding piezoelectric performance and high stretchability, and the separated carrier could react with water to generate highly cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS), contributing to effectively killing tumor cells and eliminating bacteria through piezoelectric therapy.…”
