Disparity of Attainment in Reading and Arithmetic

Abstract: Summary. In a recent article, Dr. Lynn puts forward the view that anxiety is a cause of good reading but interferes with progress in arithmetic. The evidence supporting these contentions has been critically examined and shown to be inconclusive. Suggestions are made for future investigations.
