Displacement measurement of a concrete bridge under traffic loads with fibre-reinforced polymer-packaged optical fibre sensors

Abstract: Current displacement measurement methods cannot cope with the demands of the long-term measurement of small-or medium-span concrete bridges because of some technology or economic challenges. In this article, a displacement measurement method is proposed for concrete bridges based on fibre-reinforced polymer-packaged optical fibre sensors. The sensing principle and manufacture process of the proposed sensor are introduced as well as the strain sensing property. Then, a relationship is established between the st… Show more

“…Prefabricated buildings connect prefabricated components at the construction site. Considering construction operability and node performance under new conditions, the construction of connection nodes is relatively complex and the design difficulty is high [9]. Compared to prefabricated building design methods, most structural engineers are more familiar with traditional cast-in-place concrete design methods.…”

“…The shear strength and damage characteristics of BFRP beams of continuous hoop-reinforced concrete were obtained [23][24][25]. At the same time, the influence of the hoop ratio, shear span ratio, and longitudinal tension ratio on the shear strength of the concrete are also analyzed based on the results of the experimental research works [26][27][28][29]. The effectiveness of the externally bonded BFRP grids is systematically studied from the bond behavior of the interface between BFRP grids and concrete, the static behavior of the strengthened members, and the fatigue behavior of the strengthened members [30][31][32].…”

“…Although many types of optimization problems and their applications have been proposed, few researchers have dealt with the deformation sensing of the raft. At present, more studies on structures with simple constrained boundaries such as bridges, cantilever beams, frame structure, and slabs at home and abroad, [16][17][18][19][20] but fewer paper about complex constrained boundary conditions, such as plate-like structures with multiflexible support on both sides.…”
