“…In particular, a high level of resilience was protective against sleep disturbance when perceived stress was present. This finding corresponds with prior research showing that resilience negated the impacts of stress on outcomes (Palm‐Fischbacher & Ehlert, ; Peng et al, ). However, we did not find a significant interaction of perceived stress with social support on sleep disturbance, which is inconsistent with the study of van Schalkwijk, Blessinga, Willemen, Van Der Werf, and Schuengel ().…”

“…Each of the three variables has been studied as a mediator and/or a moderator between stressful situations and symptoms of physical/mental health (Balkis, 2011;Dardas & Ahmad, 2015;Grau, Salanova, & Peiró, 2001;Hain, Oddo-Sommerfeld, Bahlmann, Louwen, & Schermelleh-Engel, 2016;Hui, 2015;Palm-Fischbacher & Ehlert, 2014;Schönfeld, Brailovskaia, Bieda, Zhang, & Margraf, 2016;Tan-Kristanto & Kiropoulos, 2015;Tsarenko & Strizhakova, 2013;Wissing et al, 2011). The literature indicates that selfefficacy, resilience, and social support seeking each play an important role in influencing the relationship between stress and physical/mental health.…”

“…As a result of the increase in endorphins and dopamine depletion, prolactin (PRL) secretion, which is also a stress hormone, is exacerbated. The high concentration of PRL inhibits secretion of gonadotropic hormones of the hypophysis and, as a result, there is a decrease in the synthesis of estrogens and progesterone in the ovaries, that is the cause of menstrual cycle disorders, early ovarian depletion, amenorrhea, infertility, dyshormonal breast diseases, tumors of uterine and ovaries [7][8][9][10].…”
