“…Digging deeper into expectations of making an address change (and making one in reality), our finding that neuroticism is positively related to both these outcomes is in accord with Silventoinen et al (2007). However, they do not agree fully with those of Campbell (2019) who notes that openness and extroversion are positively related to expecting to move (our analysis does not identify either), and although conscientiousness has a positive effect in England and Wales, it was negative in Australia. However, in making a move (as distinct from just having an expectation), both analyses note a positive effect for extroversion.…”

“…Neuroticism and conscientiousness, in contrast, seemed to have no impact on migratory behaviour. Campbell (2019), in an analysis of the Household Income and Dynamics in Australia study (HILDA), examines how personality influences migration intentions, certainty around these intentions and actual outcomes and how strongly intentions relate to outcomes. The migration intentions and outcomes are particularly pertinent for our analysis with openness, extroversion being positively related to intentions to move (and conscientiousness negatively) and extroversion being positively related to making a move in reality.…”

“…In the United States, higher openness to experience, higher extraversion, and lower agreeableness were related higher migration probability (Jokela, 2009). Other studies have reported similar findings on personality and selective residential mobility in Italy (Ciani & Capiluppi, 2011), Norway (Butikofer & Peri, 2017), and Australia (Campbell, 2019).…”

“…From wave 9, new household members that arrived in Australia for the first time after 2001 were also added to the sample. The association between personality and migration decision processes has been examined previously using the HILDA data (Campbell, 2019) but this study did not examine selective migration or personality development.…”

“…But the economic and social costs of migration process in most cases are being evaluated and predicted by the potential international economic migrants. The direction of migration flows is directly related to these costs and benefits (Campbell 2019).…”
