Dissecting Clinical and Metabolomics Associations of Left Atrial Phasic Function by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Feature Tracking

Abstract: Among community cohorts, associations between clinical and metabolite factors and complex left atrial (LA) phasic function assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) feature tracking (FT) are unknown. Longitudinal LA strain comprising reservoir strain (εs), conduit strain (εe) and booster strain (εa) and their corresponding peak strain rates (SRs, SRe, SRa) were measured using CMR FT. Targeted mass spectrometry measured 83 circulating metabolites in serum. Sparse Principal Component Analysis was used for dat… Show more

“…The papillary muscle tethering distance and strain have been demonstrated to have significant association with ischemic mitral regurgitation [ 54 ]. Fourth, prior study has revealed distinct associations between metabolic perturbations with LA phasic function in healthy aging population [ 55 ]. Future investigations using both imaging (e.g.…”

“…The subjects were recruited from CAS, a prospective study initiated in 2014 that examines characteristics and determinants of cardiovascular function in older persons. CAS participants were recruited from the prospective population‐based cohort, the Singapore Chinese Health Study (SCHS) and directly from the local community.…”

“…Advantages of these techniques include excellent scan-rescan reproducibility, less dependence on operator technique, and more accurate and reproducible measures of the left and right ventricles. Consequently, CMR has become the standard reference modality for measurement of ventricular volume and function ( Bellenger et al, 2000 ), and arguably the optimal imaging modality for quantification of myocardial displacement ( Leng et al, 2015 , 2016 , 2018 ), strain and strain rate ( Rahman et al, 2017 ; Scatteia et al, 2017 ; Koh et al, 2018 ; Zhao et al, 2018 ).…”
