Dissociation Constants of Some Compounds Related to Lysergic Acid

Abstract: Dissociation constants have been recorded for ergometrine, ergometrinine and a number of alkanolamides of 3‐dimefhylaminopropionic acid, 1‐methylhexahydronicotinic acid and arecaidine. The similarity of ΔpK (amide) values for the alkanolamides with that for ergometrine, offers evidence that such values may be taken as an indicator of amino‐carboxyl distances.

“…The acid dissociation constants have been used in various areas of research such as stereochemical and conformational structure determinations, , the directions of nucleophilic and electrophilic attack, the stabilities of intermediates, the size of activation energies in organic reactions, and the determination of the active centers of enzymes in biochemistry . In the present work, we are reporting on the experimental acid dissociation constants of some biologically active 4-( x -pyridyl)-2- aminothiazole bases to elucidate the structure−reactivity relations.…”

“…Therefore, knowledge about the structure of heteroaromatic molecules is invaluable in understanding their reactivity. The acid dissociation constants have been used in various areas of research, such as stereochemical and conformational structure determinations, 1,2 the directions of nucleophilic and electrophilic attack, the stabilities of intermediates, the size of activation energies in organic reactions, 3 and determination of the active centers of enzymes in biochemistry. 4 In the present work we report on the acid-base behavior of some 6-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-3(2H)-pyridazinone derivatives with potential antihypertensive effects.…”
