Dissolution profile of dolomite in chloric acid solution: The effect of chloric acid concentration and pulp density

Abstract: Abstract. Dolomite is one of carbonate minerals that contain magnesium. Magnesium is important element used in many aspects of life such as cofactor of many enzymes in human body, nutrient for plants, and raw material in automotive industry. Dolomite can be processed through low temperature process to obtain magnesium and calcium oxide that is needed in important applications such as base material for making drugs, raw material in the synthesize slow release fertilizer, materials for fire retardant, component … Show more

“…[2] SCM was chosen based on the assumption that dolomite particles are spherical. The linearization of a plot of fractions of dolomite that reacted at various HNO3 concentration and reaction temperature with the corresponding time were examined under the three SCM Equations ( 10), ( 11) and (12). The experimental data were tested for first line of best fits, which is also the slowest step as well as the rate determining step.…”

“…Dolomite is one of the major sources of magnesium oxide (MgO) which is currently in high demand [9,10]. MgO can be used as catalyst, refractory lining, in drug making and fertilizer production [11,12]. In order to understand the reaction mechanism between dolomite and mineral acids, such as hydrochloric acid (HCl), tetraoxosulphate (VI) acid (H2SO4) and trioxonitrate (V) acid (HNO3), the study of dissolution kinetics was considered.…”

“…There are three oxygen atoms bonded to the carbon in covalent bonds. The dolomite molecules are formed due to the ionic bond between the positive charge of Mg and Ca, and the two negative charges of carbonate (Solihin et al, 2018).…”
