The mechanism of the reaction l~ p, ~)11B at 1.5 ~ E a ~ 3 bIeV and opticalmodel parameterization are investigated. A set of parameters is reported that describes many transitions with Q _< 2.47 MeV in the energy region considered. It also describes the Q = 4.77 MeV transition, if an additional Hauser--Feshbach contribution is assumed. The p-y-angular cozrelation functions are calculated as a further test of the DWBA. The spin-orbit eoupHng is found to give, in general, an improved fit to the experimental differential eross-seetions, and a very strong dependence of the angular correlation and polarization on the spin-orbit parameter is observed.
