The Christmas tree worm (Spirobranchus spp.) is a biota that lives in association with hermatypic corals. This bioeroder damages the structural integrity of corals, making them susceptible to breakage. Therefore, further investigation is required to determine the distribution, diversity, uniformity, and predominance of CTW on hard corals in the Sempu Island Nature Reserve's waters. The method used is the belt transect method, which refers to the reef check. CTW species will be identified based on their operculum, and corals will be identified based on their growth form, genus, and species. The data gathered were processed, and the abundance value and ecological index were obtained. The CTW species found at the five stations were Spirobranchus gardineri, Spirobranchus cruciger, and Spirobranchus spp., associated with massive corals of the genus Porites and genus Goniastrea. Water quality factors such as currents, sedimentation, and nitrates affect CTW's presence. Medium-to-fast currents circulate around Sempu Island, where high sedimentation rates of 73.73 mg/ cm2/day decrease light penetration into the waterways. Additionally, elevated nitrate levels contribute to the growth of CTW operculum-covering turf algae. CTW abundance values ranged from 0.018 to 0.084 individuals/m2, diversity index (H') ranged from 0.403 to 0.760 (low), and uniformity index (E) ranged from 0.582 to 0.966 (unstable to stable). The dominance index (C) values ranged from 0.513 to 0.705 (medium). Based on the index value, it was found that the CTW in Sempu Island was in the unstable category, so there was moderate dominance.

Microalgae, micro-sized plant organisms, play a crucial role in aquatic ecosystems. While many microalgae inhabit substrates or the bottom of water bodies, several types are planktonic. This study aimed to identify the types and abundance of microalgae in both sediment and water column habitats, as well as to analyse the environmental factors influencing their abundance. The research encompasses observations of water quality factors, microalgae abundance, relative abundance, diversity index, evenness index, and dominance index. Statistical analyses were using non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) and Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA). The study was conducted in May-June 2022, with bi-weekly sampling at three points within each location for two months. Microalgae identified in the coastal area of Probolinggo belong to the Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, and Chlorophyceae classes. The highest microalgae abundance in sediment habitat was 58,472 ind/cm2, while in the water column was 4,118 ind/l. Diversity, evenness, and dominance indices in both sediment and water column habitats ranged from 1.93 to 2.61, 0.88 to 0.98, and 0.09 to 0.10, respectively. NMDS and CCA analyses indicate a graphical representation of the Bacillariophyceae class, demonstrating its prevalence across all sites.

The coast of Tuban is a fairly dynamic area where the lives of fishermen depend on fishing. Ecosystem changes that occur in the coastal area of Tuban greatly affect the fishing effort. The presence of the phytoplankton themselves cannot be sensed directly. However, the green leaf substance present in the bodies of the phytoplankton can be sensed by sensors in the form of the chlorophyll-a content of the water bodies on the coast. In this study, the distribution of chlorophyll-a on the coast will be mapped using Terra Modis satellite imagery and then analyzed by modeling the distribution so that future predictions can be made on handling water quality on the coast of Tuban so that the economy of fishing communities on the coast of Tuban can be improved. The method used for the mapping is Remote Sensing. The result is a liner mathematical model y = 28.012 x, y is Chlorophyll and x reflectance Rrs_488 which is blue with a degree of determination R2 = 0.9535, and the availability of thematic maps of chlorophyll-a content on the coast of Tuban.
