Distributed Resource Map: A database-driven network support architecture for Cognitive Radio ad hoc networks

Abstract: Obtaining awareness of the operating environment is crucial to the successful operation of a Cognitive Radio (CR) network. In a multihop CR ad hoc network, aggregating knowledge about the external environment is a task which the CR nodes must perform based on their individual and collective capacity. In this paper, we introduce Distributed Resource Map (DRM), a framework for cooperation and knowledge aggregation in cognitive radio ad hoc networks. The DRM is a databasedriven knowledge base aimed at exploiting … Show more

“…The abstracted information can then be used to optimize the performance of CR nodes in terms of their channel access and mobility as well as for the development and support of a distributed network support architecture [16]. Evolutionary hypernetworks are well suited to the realization of radio spectrum profiling concept for CR ad hoc networks.…”

“…Multiple hop CRN, accumulating meaningful information in the outside the architecture major job nodes should do individually and collectively for cooperation among the components of the network and for collaborative sensing capability. This paper proposes Database-driven framework (Khan et al, 2012) for collaboration and knowledge accumulation in CRN. The architecture is a database driven whose main goal is making use of collaborative spectral sensing performed by cognitive radio nodes and cooperation for creating a proper network architecture.…”

“…This abstracted information is then used to optimize the performance of the CR nodes in terms of their channel access and handovers. Moreover, the spectrum profiling enables the CR network to develop a distributed network support architecture in which all the nodes maintain information about their local radio environment and can share it with other peers [16]. Hypernetworks are well suited to the realization of the radio spectrum profiling concept introduced in this paper for the CR networks.…”
