Distributed subframe interleaving: A new solution for packet loss resilient speech coding

Abstract: Packets carrying real-time speech data may be lost during transmission over unreliable networks. This loss can lead to considerable degradation of speech quality. In this paper, we propose a new distributed subframe interleaving scheme for multiple description speech coding to avoid repeat transmission and ensure acceptable speech quality when packet loss occurs.
